stockholm adventure ...

Linda's meeting with Sue !!!

June 9th 2007l

Today my friends Sue -

[webmaster of this site]

and Dusty

arrived in Stockholm on the

MV SAGA RUBY!

We had arranged to spend the day together

and so with Lars I travelled up to the quayside

for our 'adventure'  !

Linda at grandmother's stall

we first took Sue into Stockholm centre and showed her the flowermarket ... and the stall that Linda's own grandmother ran

...for 50 years!

and the views and places around the City

Sue tells me this is 'Travelling Ted'

who goes all over the world with her!!!

...apparently been  looking out of the porthole on the ship!

Sue took this picture of Lars with Linda

showing the town hall in the background -

where they got married

                 Very romantic !

meeting 'live' for the first time

in a two year email friendship was so exciting;

this is Sue and Linda enjoying the day out

In the 'Old town' in Stockholm - a very narrow alleyway - perhaps the narrowest - Sue checking it out !

We then hopped onto one of the 'Hop on - Hop off' boats that travel around the harbour

between the islands  that make up Stockholm,

and went across to an island that had a lovely park, an a Zoo and an outdoor cafe....

.

As it was so hot we had cool drinks in the shade and relaxed...

However, we had known that this was the day

the Stockholm Marathon took place !

So to ensure we could get back the Sage Ruby

to continue our voyage it was necessary

to get back on the little Hop on/off boat early

to try and avoid the runners !!!!

This was easier

said than done!

However thankfully Linda and Lars had thought of

everything - and we followed the runners (because we

could not cross the street!)

However  we found an entrance to the Underground on our side - and then made a dash on the  trains to where we had been told buses were still running to the docks ...

You've guessed it; the bus did not come!

But an Angel came instead

A Taxi trying to avoid the marathon turned up at the bus stop we were standing at ...

and took us all

safely back to the Saga Ruby

...with some souvenirs of our wonderful day !!!

Olaf the Orible !

All too soon the Saga Ruby with Sue and Dusty

on board were tugged out to sea ...

but sent these photos of the Archipelago

[as shown below] as they sailed away on their

cruise - and eventually back to the UK

.

The Saga Ruby waved to other ships and then travelled far away

Sue and Dusty tell us that

once back on board Saga Ruby it was time for

a cuppa ...

and some music from another Lars on the Ship!

finally a look at a Swedish Sunset..
