APRIL 2008

The garden is now in full swing (our dormant period tends to be the summer months)

...but as you can see ...

English Hollyhocks

are joined by

English style

Rambling Roses

to accompany the

Spanish Bougainvillea

MAY 2008  and the sizzling garden is blooming ...

The English Hollyhocks

flourish here well

as can be seen ...

WILDLIFE NOTES: The large wasp on the Hollyhocks and the Egyptian Grasshopper.

(I have a love hate relationship with these)

This one is the female and quite large and her mate is about half the size but between them they can chomp through alot of plant and they seem to like the bayonet leaves of my cordalines......

Still you have to admit they are rather magnificent.

Gone into the insect life here.  When you first come out here some of these creatures seem threatening but you soon learn to live with them.

It is being a funny year,  There are not many
bees     about

and there seems a sad lack of crickets at the moment.  I am sure they are usually around by now.  I think it is the odd spring we had.
