Phase 2 - October/November 2008 |
... |
| |
|
This involved more new
windows (which were to be installed in the back bedroom
and the back attic) and the total stripping and
replastering of the back bedroom and the front lounge. The
remaining bedrooms were to receive some minor repairs. |
| |
|
So the initial work
done in this phase was to start on the back bedroom, and remove
all plaster and (possibly) the ceiling - the cracking to the
coving was worrying and all possible precautions were taken.
These photos show the bedroom and repairs (temporary) before the
main work undertaken to make it better. |

However, the inevitable happened - and
the whole ceiling had to be removed and and then be replaced.
See the photos below. The
bedroom was finally stripped out
- and the big chunk of white
coving that can be seen here is an example of the
heavy stuff that had to
come down ... fortunately controlled by 'the lads' |

it was amazing how much stuff was taken
out ! some below |

... plus another skipful ! |
|
|
|
|
Meantime the other rooms remained piled
high ...
and we all did our best to manage ! |

During all of this, alongside the
bedroom revamp, the front lounge work was begun. First the
bottom of the walls were stripped of plaster so that damp
proofing stuff could be injected. Then the rest of the
plaster came off too. Full plastering work could be
recommenced for a couple of weeks as this damp proof cream had
to be allowed to soak in. However, two walls were able to
be plastered after about a week to ten days, and the ceiling, to
keep the 'ball rolling' and ensure the overall work on the house
kept pace with the schedule.
See the photos below. |

The photos above are the lounge when
cleared of personal items
but before the work began .... |

and these above are during the first
part of the removal of plaster in that room; Chez inspecting and
wondering what has happened to his 'den' .... |

|
|
LATER ON rooms began to take
shape; instead of being dismantled, there began a revival with
the bedroom having new plaster boards applied and plastering of
the walls and ceiling. Then the lounge got some work whilst the
damp proofing took on the remaining walls. |

JUST LOOK AT THIS IMPROVEMENT BELOW...

AND THE FRONT LOUNGE was starting
to look more like home again too ... |

Chez certainly thought so! |
|
|
|

Yep, his inspection was thorough and he
was most impressed !!! |
