It was
very interesting to have proof of that blackbirds sing in
various accents in different parts of the country. The
blackbirds in the gardens are singing in Stockholm-accent!!!
Quite different actually, from the blackbirds here in the
Humlekärr area. |

..and
that this is called 'Bird Cherry" !!!

Cart horses…
Just
look at these beautiful
old
fashioned cart-horses!!!
They
are doing a temporary job here in the forests around Humlekärr,
by taking away the trees that were felled by the gales in
January (the night before I found Berit and her eggs under the
henhouse).
|

While they are doing this job they spend the nights in our
neighbours´ former calf field. And so does their special
designed timber-cart. |

The main news is that this week went to an egg
factory to buy new fowls. This time I thought it would be
nice to have brown hens. My chicks are soon adult hens and
roosters, and the roosters will soon need more hens.
I intended to buy 30 hens. However, when the man
came out to me with the first bunch he said it happened to be a
rooster among them and asked me if I wanted him. "Well", I said,
"I was going to buy hens to my rooster-chicks so I actually
don’t need any rooster, but of course I can´t say no to him now
when I see his face and when I know that he otherwise will be
sent to the slaughter next week together with his thousands of
sisters.
Of course I take him, but then I need six more
hens". Said and done, and the man gave me four hens extra too.
|
So I came home with 40 new hens and one
rooster. I cried while I was driving home - of grief over all
the other poor fowls who will be sent to the slaughter next week
and of joy over those I had saved from that.
Most of them are in a very bad condition; with
almost no feathers left and they are very skinny too. Some are
even in so bad condition that they have to stay under the
heating lamp, and I have to feed them by hand. It´s so very sad.
How can people treat animals like this!?!?!
I was not brave enough to pick up the camera
there at the factory, but here is a bunch of pictures of the
fowls here in their new home Humlekärr.
I will look
after them and give them a good life

24.5.7 Limitless Love ... |
|
|
My friend Chatarina sent me this picture today.
Seven weeks ago she received a mallards egg from a woman who had
found it in the road one week earlier (!), beside a dead female
mallard . Chatarina lives in the countryside outside Stockholm
and is , just like me, a fowl owner. She put this little egg
under her hen Edith, the best sitter in her henhouse, and little
Edith of course started to brood immediately. Last Sunday the
egg suddenly hatched and this little mallard-chick looked out
from it´s shell.

Look at them´ - aren´t they just a perfect
example on limitless love?!?!
