Ardenner

Skoghast

Ardenner is the name of this Belgic breed which was very common as a working horse in the farms in older days in Sweden, and now unfortunately is threatened by eradication.

Skogshäst means horse who is working with timber in the forests.

... maybe you  wonder why one of the horses is standing all alone before the cart  while the other one is lying down in the country road.

Well the man had to un-harness this horse quickly because of acute colicky pains, and he was struggling with trying to call for a vet when I happened to show up and helped him to hold the horse, 2 Swedish km (2000 meters) from Humlekärr.

I have been very excited looking forward to a visit from Sue and Dusty  -

they were on a cruise to the Baltic...

and stopped off in Stockholm on the 9th June  -

we had a great day out - just click below

Meantime, Berit has been secretly fooling me again !!!

I did not noticed that little hen Berit was fooling me again  -

today she came out from a shrubbery in the chicken run with 9 new hatched chicks!!!!

Her nest is in a cave in the earth that the rabbits have dug out!!!

There is a swallow's nest up in a corner of  the ceiling in the hen house, and now the chicks are hatched.

But it is very difficult to take photos since I have to use a ladder ...

and it is nearly impossible to angle 'Old Betty' - my camera - as it is too close to the roof...

and mum and dad swallow are very angry at being photographed and attack me !!!!

I think you will agree these photos are worth it though ...

wonderful summer !!!

PS:

it was  Sue who sent these roses to Humlekärr over the Internet as a reminder of our Stockholm day out

...and  this was the first time ever a flower messenger came all the way out to Humlekärr - the middle of nowhere.

Also  my sister's finger-prints are on the camera - but we still like the photo !!!
