Chez's chat ...

my view of the world !

The things I write on my own pages will be my own views, a 'dog's eye view' of the world!

Hope you enjoy reading about my life and the stuff we get up to.

Some time ago now I  had a bit of a worrying time, until I was rescued and taken to Jerry Green Dog Sanctuary - no-one knows what happened but I was very very hungry - so much  so that my ribs stuck out, my coat had fallen out and my face was all pinched and I had come very close to death.  I was filthy, exhausted and losing energy.

Fortunately the wonderful people who took me in fed me, washed me, loved me and found me a smashing new home. So all is now well.

Do read my news and views on my own section of this website please ...

starting here at

News from home

Hello !

This is my section of the website and I am very pleased to be here.

My boss is the Webmaster here  and lets me choose stuff to go on the web and has  given me my OWN PAGES - what about that!!! Well here goes .....

I will introduce you to other friends as we go along and keep you posted of exciting events and gossip!!!

My day starts with a lovely early morning walk with Sue (WM) and then home for a day organising everyone!  This consists of sharing toast with Dusty whilst Sue gets into the office.  Later I help her with the lunch and then we have another walk!  It is serious hard work this, don't laugh!!! Anyway, I know I am one of the luckiest dogs around .

LOUD NOISES

Whenever there is a special celebration  I remembered I am terrified of fireworks and the horrid noise they make.  It is not only November 5th that we animals suffer. Some people have them for birthdays too! I bark and bark until I am in such a state - and every year my family have to give me some special pills only from the Vet to keep me calm - so please click

 now ...   Thanks.

And now as they say some grrrrrrrrreat INTERNATIONAL news!

The North Shore Animal League of America are some of my heroes. We do not know the half of the problems the pets have had in the terrible hurricanes and so in in America - thankfully these people are here to help

 - click this link below to see what they have been up to during the recent hurricanes ...

Home again and some  WASH DAY BLUES!

This will make you laugh!  My mum decided to wash all my toys! I have a great love of the fluffy toys, especially those that make that funny honking noise - other than a squeak - I cuddle them and throw them around.  Anyway, that day the washer jambed and the toys were stuck in there for a WEEK! Not funny I hear you say.

THEN, when they were rescued she hung them out to dry! look ...

anyway all's well that ends well - and they are back safe with me now !!! Women...

NOW I must also tell you about my autumn break 2005 at It was wonderful so I also went there with my family  for Christmas too.

To see what a great place it is just click

Where we have also spent Christmas 2005 and Summer 2006 - which was just wonderful - met up with my pals Bonnie and Clyde again and made some new friends

SOME OF MY THOUGHTS...

I love my home comforts, warm in the winter and cool in the summer – always looked after. We also prepare properly for any longer excursions .  Expect you are all the same

It makes me give extra thought to those less fortunate dogs who have been abandoned and have no option but to seek refuge in doorways, hedges, under park benches and so on. They cannot stand up to the cold very well because they are so hungry and fear prevents them from approaching humans - as very often some human has doled out a beating. What an awful situation. Sometimes a stray dog is lucky and a KIND human finds them and brings them in to the safe haven of a Jerry Green Dog Sanctuary - and from then on they are totally SAFE. l have met many of them.

Once in JayGee, not only are they fed and warmed, and kindness given to them and reassurance - but from that moment onwards they are protected by the umbrella of the JGFT Charity. When they arrive they are first of all kept in a separate kennel (or quarantined as we say) for a short while to make sure they do not give any diseases they might have to the dogs already in the Jerry Green sanctuary After a vet gives them a check up to make sure they are not ill or in pain - and if they are then they are given the necessary treatment - they are placed in with other needy dogs for company .

From then on they are given any re-socialising therapy needed, or some light schooling in social manners if they have never been taught any basic obedience or heelwork etc and then they are introduced to the some of the many lovely people who visit us, wanting to take a rescue dog into their homes. Some of them have their photos put on our Website as an example of the many lovely dogs with us (show offs! ! !)

Once a dog and a new family are "matched" the initial chat and paperwork is gone through. The dog is taken to its new home and this is, of course, on the understanding that the dog will ALWAYS remain a Jerry Green Dog - i.e. they are adopted not owned by the new family. Then, if for any reason the new people cannot keep the dog due to illness or some such, the Jerry Green Foundation will always take the dog back into the sanctuary and either keep them in comfort or re-home them again accordingly. By this system, any rescued dog or dog placed into the care of Jerry Green is never again in the situation of having no-one to care for them. The Charity is forever there for them, throughout the whole of their lives. I think it is wonderful.

The Jerry Green organisation are also there for the kind people who do the re-homing. Some people have never lived with a dog before (shame l say! - think what they have been missing!) and so understandably they often ask for advice on pet care. We at the Jerry Green Foundation are only too pleased to give advice, and will always answer any questions or offer suggestions on dog management, both beforehand, or when a dog first goes to the new home, and afterwards if any problems occur. This way everyone gets support.

It is useful to remember that when a dog first goes out to a loving new home, he or she may initially feel nervous and disorientated. This is not the fault of the loving new family - but quite understandable if the dog has been previously mistreated and/or made unhappy in any way. Once rescued and made comfortable at a Jerry Green Dog Sanctuary, dogs get into a routine and become reassured. Although desirable, re-homing can be quite traumatic at first and it is up to the new family to recognise this and help the dog come to terms with the new surroundings. Often this is a surprise to a new family taking a dog home, and they think they have done something wrong or it is "not working out'' . Time - this is the important element -time and patience and understanding. We all need lots of that. Together, Jerry Green Foundation and the kind members of the dog loving public - will get there.

Thank you to you all for being there for us dogs.
