Local Villages by Liz Gilbey ...

BRIDGE, RAWCLIFFE

BRIDGE  is a hamlet and part of the civil parish of Rawcliffe,

right on the edge of the East Riding. Just down the road Thorne is in Doncaster Metropolitan territory.

Bridge is actually two bridges - they cross both the Aire and Calder Canal ..

and the River Don/Dutch River.

Croda Chemicals dominates Rawcliffe Bridge, which also has a primary school, shop cum petrol station, three chapels converted to homes, a pub, and a local beauty spot with fishing lakes - Sugar Mill Ponds -

... and if passing through look out for the giant turkey perched atop a bungalow bay window! It’s not real, nor stuffed - but a model where the old turkey farm used to be!
