The gardens have  burst into activity again and we now have our autumn show of flowers which should take us through until Christmas.

On the picture are Gazinias,  Lantana, Oleander, and a tangerine bush with its fruit just changing colour and the new white blossom for next year opening at the same time.

Mike's Almeria Up-date

Sue and I believe it is a government orchestrated plot to maintain the rural character of the area.

High  technology continues to surge ahead in Almeria as you can see from the state of the art brickwork and our new telegraph poles.

The sunsets at this time of year  can be really beautiful this picture was taken from our patio at about 8 o’clock on the 22nd October, mind you it had gone by 10 past.

Well another year has gone by and with it my cumpleaños (birthday) and I can now say "tengo sessenta y tres años " ( I have 63 years).  This illustrates one of the pitfalls for those unfamiliar with the Spanish language where the little wriggle on the n changes the letter from enne to the different letter ennye.  Were I to say "tengo sessenta y tres anos"  (without the little wriggle) it would mean I have 63 anuses.  Brits beware!

We are bracing ourselves for the cooler weather and I am looking forward to stew and dumplings but

Sue says it will be at least two months before I am allowed them

On the subject of food our region is famous as the home of the tapa (the little snacks served with drinks in our part of Spain) and I thought I would share a typical (and delicious) recipe with you.
